The month when we observe Father’s Day seems like a good time to celebrate the importance of families. As you read this issue of DENVER WOMAN, you’ll see that some take family closeness to an additional level in multigenerational businesses.

Our Feature focuses on three father/daughter duos that find fulfillment in working together in the family enterprise. Read about Kamala Madden and her father, Tom Johnson, of CHP Design Group; Frank S. Schneider and Kim Schneider Malek of the Schneider Consulting Group; and Keith Combs and Devon Combs of the Kentwood Company. In fields as disparate as home design, business consulting and real estate sales, these three women think it’s great to be on the job with Dad.

Our Profile, Christina Gold, is president and CEO of Western Union. Her vision and leadership have won her a place three times on the list of America’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business as compiled by Fortune Magazine.

Nancy and Kenn Miller invite you to take a virtual tour of their English Tudor home, with its comfortable modern touches, in the Hilltop area. Read about sculptor Darlis Lamb, who draws her inspiration from nature and creates exquisite fruits and vegetables in bronze.

Role Model Julia George has done high-powered fund raising for the Olympic games and the Democratic National Convention, but today she is concentrating on a group of children in Ethiopia. She is teaching them to knit, with a goal that they will produce scarves in school colors for sale in Colorado, as a means to raising funds for their life’s necessities.

Women in Business introduces four outstanding lawyers — Kim Willoughby, Leslie Kaye, Mary Ewing and Caroline Fuller. While they specialize in different areas of law, all see their profession and the opportunity to use their knowledge and power as a means to improve the lives of their clients.

The subject of our Dining article, Z Cuisine, blends authentic French cooking and fresh local produce to create cuisine du terroir (cuisine from the earth). This issue also includes informative articles on investment dressing, restless legs syndrome, choices in senior living and the many kinds of spas. Be sure, too, to check out the trend pages with “gadgets for gals.”
