The home of Melinda and Peter Douglas is nestled in a beautiful park-like setting that provides cozy respite from life’s hectic schedules. Designer Melinda Douglas believes every home must have a feeling of privacy and an atmosphere of coziness, both within the home and outside. Those two basic elements are evident everywhere one turns, and each window provides an intimate view of a tree, a bush, a green lawn, a rose bed. Each room offers a glorious chair, a good lamp and an intriguing piece of art or captivating book. As Douglas puts it, “Our home and garden are our sanctuary.”

Conni Newsome, Douglas’ long-time associate, adds that “the fabrics and furniture Melinda has selected for her home are classic and simple. Like the garden, every detail in the house is relaxed yet refined. It all adds up to ‘come in and be comfortable’.”

In Colorado, bringing the inside out and the outside in is fundamental. This is yet another reason why the Douglas home is so magical. It opens to the nestled trees, the exotic flowers and the warmth of the interior hearth. It is private. And it is cozy.
